TLDR Angiopteris evecta extracts significantly promote hair growth in rabbits.
The study investigated the hair growth activity of ethanol and water extracts of Angiopteris evecta roots on male Angora rabbits. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of various secondary metabolites in the ethanol extract. Using a modified Tanaka method, both extracts at concentrations of 40%, 20%, and 10% significantly promoted hair growth over 18 days. The 40% ethanol and water extracts showed superior results compared to minoxidil, a marketed hair growth drug. Further research on human volunteers was recommended before clinical use.
