Androgenic Alopecia and Its Correlation with Serum Ferritin Level

    TLDR Female patients with androgenetic alopecia have low serum ferritin levels.
    The study aimed to determine the mean serum ferritin levels in female patients with androgenetic alopecia. Conducted at the Department of Dermatology, Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi, from October 2018 to April 2019, it included 100 female patients post-puberty, excluding those with other forms of alopecia or who had taken certain supplements or medications. The mean age of participants was 33.94 years, with an average disease duration of 6.25 months and a mean weight of 58.77 kg. The results showed that the mean serum ferritin level in these patients was 33.10 ng/ml, indicating that serum ferritin levels are low in female patients with androgenetic alopecia.
