TLDR A new minoxidil regimen improved hair loss in a lupus patient.
This case report focuses on a 47-year-old female with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and androgenic alopecia, who showed minimal improvement with previous treatments like minoxidil, desonide foam, and finasteride. A new regimen of oral and topical minoxidil led to satisfactory results without adverse effects. The report underscores the complexity of treating alopecia in patients with conditions like SLE and the need for a multidisciplinary approach, including psychological support, due to the impact of hair loss on quality of life. It also suggests oral dutasteride and dutasteride microinjections as potential alternative treatments.
