TLDR Contact dermatitis may speed up hair loss in some cases.
This article discusses two cases of androgenetic alopecia in Nigerian men, one of which was potentially accelerated by the use of a phenolic antiseptic and disinfectant solution. The author suggests that topical agents applied to the scalp may contribute to the rate of hair loss in some cases, but it is difficult to assess their impact. The article emphasizes the importance of considering other factors beyond heredity, androgens, and age in the management of androgenetic alopecia.
