TLDR Topical minoxidil helps hair regrowth in over 50% of men and women.
The document discussed androgenetic alopecia in men and women, highlighting that bitemporal recession occurred in 65% of women and 95% of men, but did not correlate with vertex or midfrontal scalp hair loss and did not respond to finasteride or oral antiandrogens. Finasteride was effective in arresting hair loss in 90% of men and stimulating some hair regrowth in over 60%. Oral antiandrogens were effective in arresting hair loss in over 90% of women and stimulating some hair regrowth in over 30%. Topical minoxidil produced visible hair regrowth in over 50% of both men and women within six months, although it might not prevent further hair loss.
