TLDR Alopecia Areata is linked to higher depression levels.
This study examined the relationship between Alopecia Areata and depression, involving 30 participants, 15 with Alopecia Areata and 15 without. Data collection included informed consent, sociodemographic information, semi-structured interviews, the Rorschach Inkblot Test, and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). Analysis using the Mann Whitney U test revealed a statistically significant difference in BDI scores between the groups. Significant differences were also found in Rorschach test responses related to depressive anxiety and early maternal image perceptions. The findings suggest a link between depressive anxiety, stemming from early caregiving deficiencies, and Alopecia Areata symptoms.
