TLDR Ayurvedic treatment, including leech therapy, can effectively regrow hair in alopecia areata.
The case study describes the treatment of an 18-year-old female with a single patch of alopecia areata using Jalauka Karma (leech therapy) along with Ayurvedic internal and external medications. After 60 days of treatment, significant hair regrowth was observed. The study concludes that Ayurvedic treatment, including leech therapy, can effectively manage alopecia areata by balancing the body's doshas and improving local blood circulation. The treatment protocol should be further evaluated on a larger number of patients to confirm its efficacy.
