Profile of Alopecia Areata in Children at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital, Bali, 2021-2023

    This study describes the clinical characteristics of 18 pediatric patients diagnosed with alopecia areata at Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah General Hospital in Bali from 2021 to 2023. The average age of the patients was 10.33 years, with an equal distribution of boys and girls. Hair loss was the most common symptom, observed in all patients, and the onset of symptoms was most frequent within 1-6 months. The study found that black dots were the most common dermoscopic finding. The research highlights that alopecia in children differs from adults, with varied clinical presentations and potential nail involvement, indicating a need for further evaluation for other comorbidities in affected children.
