Studysummary This study found that aloe vera extract accelerated wound healing in incised rabbit skin. Our plain-language summary of this paper — not a Tressless recommendation.
The study investigated the effects of Aloe vera leaf extract on the healing of incision wounds in rabbit skin. It was an experimental study involving 3 rabbits. Each rabbit had two incisions made on their backs, 4 cm long and 2 mm deep. The right back wound was treated with Aloe vera leaf extract, while the left back wound was left untreated. The length of the wounds was measured daily for 2 weeks. The results indicated that the wounds treated with Aloe vera leaf extract dried and healed more quickly than the untreated wounds. The conclusion drawn from the study was that Aloe vera extract has a positive effect on accelerating wound healing in incised rabbit skin.
