TLDR Six months of treatment improved PCOS symptoms and reduced AMH levels.
The study conducted at P D Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai investigated the effects of six months of combined estrogen-progestin (CEP) treatment on serum anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and testosterone levels in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients. Out of 55 enrolled participants, 24 completed the treatment. Results showed a significant decrease in acne, hirsutism, hair fall, and mean serum AMH levels, indicating an improvement in hyperandrogenic symptoms. Although serum testosterone levels decreased, the change was not statistically significant. The study suggests that AMH could be a promising marker for disease activity in PCOS, but acknowledges the limitation of a small sample size, recommending further research.
