TLDR A 645-nm diode laser effectively penetrates swine soft tissues, suggesting predictable therapeutic effects.
The study investigated the penetration depth of a 645-nm diode laser in swine soft tissue samples, which are similar to human tissues. The researchers used various tissue samples, including periosteum and mucosa of different thicknesses, to measure laser absorption. Results showed that the laser could reach cells in each layer of the tissues, with mean absorption values ranging from 70.64 ± 20.14 mW to 111.40 ± 13.22 mW. This indicated that the 645-nm wavelength laser effectively penetrated the tissue layers, suggesting its potential for predictable therapeutic effects at specific depths.
