TLDR Women with congenital adrenal hyperplasia showed no prostatic growth.
The study investigated the presence of prostatic tissue in 43 adult women with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, focusing on 11 who underwent detailed examinations. Despite androgen excess and genitourinary masculinization, the study found no significant prostatic growth in these patients. Only one patient showed periurethral thickening, and another had a slightly elevated prostate-specific antigen level, but magnetic resonance imaging confirmed the absence of definitive prostatic tissue in all participants. The findings suggested that, contrary to some case reports, notable prostatic growth was absent in these women, highlighting the need for further research to understand the factors influencing prostatic growth in this population.

Scalp biopsies are crucial for diagnosing hair loss conditions like Diffuse Unpatterned Alopecia (DUPA) and retrograde hair loss, as treatments like finasteride and dutasteride may not be effective if other conditions are present. Combining PPAR-GAMMA agonists with retinoids could improve treatments for conditions like Lichen Planopilaris.
