TLDR Steroid pulse therapy improved symptoms in a man with Satoyoshi syndrome.
A 20-year-old man with progressive muscle spasms, alopecia, and diarrhea, known as Satoyoshi syndrome, showed significant improvement after receiving steroid pulse therapy. Despite previous treatments with muscle relaxants and antiepileptic drugs, his symptoms persisted. However, after administering high-dose intravenous methylprednisone followed by oral prednisolone, his muscle cramps decreased, and his daily life activities improved. This case suggested that steroid pulse therapy could be effective for patients unresponsive to other treatments, indicating a possible autoimmune component in the syndrome's pathogenesis.
