The study aimed to revise the BASP classification for pattern hair loss (PHL) to address its limitations, particularly in classifying frontal hair loss and involvement of the temporal and occipital areas. The revised classification was tested on 138 PHL patients, with 12 excluded for chronic telogen effluvium. The revised BASP included more detailed stages for frontal hair loss and recorded temporal or occipital involvement, observed in 14 patients (11.11%). The clinical accuracy of the revised classification was 71.4%, compared to 82.5% for the existing one, while ease of use was lower for the revised version. Despite these results, the revised BASP could still be a viable alternative for classifying PHL.
