TLDR Low-dose dutasteride effectively and safely promotes hair growth in men with androgenetic alopecia.
This study evaluated the effectiveness and safety of low-dose dutasteride in treating male androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in 35 men aged 20–50 years. Over 12 months, patients received dutasteride and topical minoxidil, resulting in significant hair growth in 68.6% of participants and a reduction in hair shedding in all patients. The treatment reversed hair miniaturization, with 74.3% showing a positive response. While some experienced sexual dysfunction, these side effects resolved without discontinuing the drug. The study concludes that low-dose dutasteride is effective and safe for male AGA, though further research is needed to refine treatment regimens.
