TLDR 1% minoxidil didn't improve hair growth in severe alopecia areata.
The study conducted a double-blind trial with 50 patients suffering from extensive alopecia areata to evaluate the effectiveness of 1% minoxidil applied topically. The results showed no significant difference in hair growth between the group treated with 1% minoxidil and the group treated with the placebo, indicating that 1% minoxidil was not effective in promoting hair growth in patients with severe alopecia areata.
