The study, conducted on 11 male patients with male pattern baldness, assessed the survival rate of one-hair and two-hair follicular unit micrografts after transplantation using the KNU implanter. It found that the survival rate of the transplanted hairs was 47.3% at 1 month and 57.4% at 3 months, with a significant increase to 92.0% at 6 months and 90.4% at 12 months. The results indicated that approximately half of the transplanted hairs were lost within the first month, but the survival rate at 6 months was high. There was no significant difference in survival rates between one-hair and two-hair units. The study suggested that the KNU implanter provided benefits such as less pressure on the bulge area, more natural hair direction, fewer scars, and the ability to plant micrografts closely. It concluded that further research is necessary to understand the hair cycle post-transplantation and the growth of split follicular units.
