      This paper reviews the role of endoplasmic reticulum stress and the unfolded protein response in Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome-related atherosclerosis, especially in vascular smooth muscle cells, but reports no clinical findings; intervention in these pathways is suggested as a potential therapeutic strategy.
