Pohl-Pinkus constrictions are narrow, weakened areas along the hair shaft that can occur due to temporary disruptions in hair growth, often caused by physical or emotional stress, illness, or nutritional deficiencies. These constrictions can make the hair more prone to breakage and are sometimes used as indicators of past physiological stress in trichological examinations.
