    GlossarySegmental Vitiligo

localized skin depigmentation affecting one body segment

Segmental Vitiligo is a type of vitiligo characterized by the loss of skin color in patches, typically affecting only one side or segment of the body. Unlike the more common generalized vitiligo, segmental vitiligo often appears at a younger age and progresses for a few years before stabilizing. It is believed to be associated with the nervous system, and the depigmented patches usually follow a dermatomal distribution, which is the area of skin supplied by a single spinal nerve.
