TLDR Yangyin Qingre Huoxue Prescription may help treat atherosclerosis with fewer liver side effects than simvastatin.
The study examined the effects of the Yangyin Qingre Huoxue Prescription (YQHP) on atherosclerosis in ApoE−/− mice on a high-fat diet and exposed to HSP65 aggression. YQHP was found to regulate blood lipid levels, reduce inflammation, and modulate immune responses, particularly affecting Th17/Treg cell ratios and signaling pathways like IL-6-p-STAT3 and IL-2-p-STAT5. It showed similar efficacy to simvastatin in improving atherosclerotic lesions but with lower hepatotoxicity. The study, involving 5-6 mice per group, suggested YQHP as a promising alternative for atherosclerosis treatment due to its lipid-regulating and anti-inflammatory properties.
