XP Endo Finisher-R and PUI as supplementary methods to remove root filling materials from curved canals

This study evaluated the effectiveness of XP-endo Finisher R compared to passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) in removing filling remnants from curved mesiobuccal canals of maxillary molars. Involving 24 canals, the study found that both methods significantly reduced the amount of filling material, but XP-endo Finisher R achieved a higher reduction percentage (31.28%) compared to PUI (16.57%). The results indicated that while both methods improved the removal of root filling material, XP-endo Finisher R was approximately twice as efficient as PUI. Despite these improvements, complete removal of filling material during re-treatment remained challenging.
