    At the Fifth Annual Westwood Carolina Conference on Clinical Dermatology in October 1982, experts presented on various dermatological topics. Dr. John Corbett discussed hair care and hair coloring, while Dr. Lowell Goldsmith reviewed genetic hair defects treatable with biotin. Dr. Dennis Weigand focused on hair loss in women, covering conditions like telogen effluvium and androgenetic alopecia, and their treatments. Other topics included nail surgery, lupus erythematosus treatments favoring antimalarials, misdiagnosed dermatophyte infections, new neonatal diseases, and the use of immune enhancers in dermatology. Cosmetic allergens, contact photosensitivity, the influence of cosmetic companies, managing pruritus vulvae, and secondary skin infections with a note on antibiotic resistance were also discussed by various specialists.
