TLDR The editorial welcomes the new editor of JCAS and discusses the journal's focus on quality research, global reach, and commitment to free access.
The editorial reflects on the tenure of the outgoing editor of the Journal of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery (JCAS), emphasizing the need for new vision and welcoming Dr. Niti Khunger as the new editor. It discusses the challenges of integrating new technologies in cutaneous and aesthetic surgery, noting that many papers on new technologies were rejected due to poor evidence, while some promising ideas were published to encourage further research. The most accessed papers by the journal's readers, who number nearly 25,000 worldwide, are on minimally invasive aesthetic procedures. The journal, which has 342 reviewers and 463 authors from around the globe, has yet to receive its first impact factor but estimates it to be around 0.65 based on citations. The editorial highlights the journal's commitment to free access and no submission fees, made possible by the support of the Association of Cutaneous Surgeons of India, the editorial board, reviewers, and the publisher, Wolters Kluwer | Medknow. The outgoing editor thanks everyone involved for their support and wishes success to the new editorial board.
