Knowledge and Practice of Vitamin D Deficiency and Risk of Hair Loss Among Adult Population in Majmaah City, Saudi Arabia

TLDR Many people in Majmaah city, Saudi Arabia, don't know much about vitamin D deficiency and don't practice good vitamin D habits, with few linking it to hair loss.
In a cross-sectional study of 369 adults in Majmaah city, Saudi Arabia, it was found that although 80.5% of participants were aware of vitamin D, only 17% believed in a connection between vitamin D deficiency and hair loss. Knowledge about vitamin D deficiency was poor in 49.6% of participants, and practices related to vitamin D were suboptimal, with only 40.7% exposing themselves to sunlight and 74.8% not taking vitamin D supplements. The study highlighted a general lack of knowledge and poor practice regarding vitamin D deficiency, with no correlation found between age and knowledge or practice, nor between knowledge and practice.
