The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS) has released guidelines on virtual consultations, also known as telemedicine, in the practice of hair restoration surgery. These guidelines are intended to provide basic information on how to properly offer and use virtual consultations. The recommendations were based on available studies and the combined experience and expertise of the committee members. However, these guidelines are not a standard of care and each physician should make independent judgments based on the specific facts and circumstances of each patient. The ISHRS also advises physicians to familiarize themselves with the laws and regulations of their respective country/state regarding telemedicine.
