Lavender, traditionally used for its therapeutic properties, was believed to aid in relaxation and treat various ailments such as burns and insect bites. Evidence suggested that lavender oil might have been effective in treating neurological disorders, with studies indicating its anxiolytic, mood-stabilizing, sedative, analgesic, anticonvulsant, and neuroprotective properties. It was commonly used for anxiety, stress, and insomnia, and also for conditions like depression and dementia, although scientific support for many of these uses was lacking. Additionally, lavender was used in manufacturing for its fragrance and in decorations for its beauty and anti-insecticidal properties.
