TLDR High uric acid can cause health issues, so managing it with lifestyle changes is important.
Uric acid serves as an important antioxidant, but high levels, or hyperuricemia, are associated with health problems like gout, cardiovascular disease, and possibly prostate cancer. It is the second most common metabolic disorder after diabetes, prevalent in the U.S. and China, and influenced by factors such as gender, age, weight, alcohol, and stress. Although there is no agreement on specific UA levels that necessitate treatment, lifestyle and dietary changes are advised to manage UA levels and mitigate health risks. The effects of UA on male sex hormones, sperm, and prostate health are complex and not fully understood.
