TLDR Hair loss from alopecia areata can rarely be caused by dental problems, and treating the dental issue may reverse the hair loss.
The paper analyzed a case of alopecia areata linked to dental issues, which is a rare cause of this dermatologic condition. The study suggested that dental foci, whether infectious or mechanical, could lead to alopecia areata, but this connection is uncommon. Confirmation of a dental origin for alopecia areata can only be made retrospectively, after the patient fully recovers following the removal of the dental cause.
