TLDR Liquid Nitrogen Cryotherapy effectively treats unresponsive Alopecia Areata with minimal side effects.
The study investigated the effectiveness of Liquid Nitrogen Cryotherapy (LNC) in treating five patients with Alopecia Areata (AA) unresponsive to conventional treatments. Patients received 3-5 LNC sessions at 2-week intervals, with each session involving dual freeze-thaw cycles of 15 seconds. Results showed that three patients had an excellent response, one had a satisfactory response, and one had a fair response. Adverse effects were minor and transient, including pain, erythema, and dyspigmentation. The study concluded that LNC is a cost-effective and accessible treatment option for unresponsive AA with manageable side effects.
