TLDR In India, most patients with type 1 autoimmune polyglandular failure show symptoms in a specific order, starting with parathyroid gland issues, then yeast infections, and finally adrenal gland failure.
The study presented the clinical course of six patients with type 1 autoimmune polyglandular failure in India, with a mean age of 17.3 ± 5.2 years and an age at presentation of 10.16 ± 4.35 years. Four out of six patients exhibited the classic triad of hypoparathyroidism, mucocutaneous candidiasis, and adrenal failure. All patients initially presented with hypoparathyroidism, followed by mucocutaneous candidiasis and adrenal failure. The study highlighted the rarity of this syndrome in India, with data previously limited to single case reports.
