The study conducted a trichological analysis on the guard hair of German shepherd dogs, examining samples from various body regions. The research focused on macro and microanatomical features, including color, shape, and band patterns, as well as cuticular scale patterns and medullary configuration. The findings revealed that hair color, shape, and band patterns varied across different body regions, but all hair was flat. Microscopic examination showed that the hair structure consisted of a cuticle, cortex, and medulla, with regular wave-like cuticular scales and smooth or rippled scale margins depending on the region. The medulla was continuous, vacuolated, and exhibited a unicellular cloisonne pattern with a single ladder-shaped structure. The medullary index averaged 0.42, ranging from 0.33 to 0.52.
