TLDR Both 5% minoxidil foam and liquid effectively treat hair loss, with foam slightly preferred.
This study was a 12-month, randomized, prospective, single-blind clinical trial conducted at Buner Medical Complex to compare the efficacy and safety of 5% minoxidil foam and 5% minoxidil liquid solution in treating androgenic alopecia (AGA) in male patients. Both formulations were found to be effective, showing statistically significant improvements in hair diameter (12.4-12.6%) and hair density (2.4-3.1%) over 12 weeks. While both treatments were well-tolerated and effective, the foam formulation showed a slight advantage in patient satisfaction and density gain. The study supports the use of minoxidil as a first-line treatment for AGA, with the choice of formulation depending on patient preferences and treatment goals.
