TLDR Rosacea patients often discuss treatments and emotional struggles online, highlighting the need for professional support.
The study analyzed 207,038 posts from 41,400 users on a rosacea forum using unsupervised machine learning to identify key topics related to treatment and emotional well-being. It found that discussions were primarily about management strategies, including moisturizers, ivermectin, and diet, with emotional posts making up 22% of the total, highlighting the psychological impact of rosacea. Positive feedback was noted for treatments like metronidazole and vitamin C, while isotretinoin and oxymetazoline were less favored. The study underscores the role of social media as a supportive platform and suggests that healthcare professionals should engage in these spaces to provide accurate information and address psychological issues. Limitations include demographic biases and the unsupervised nature of the analysis.
