TLDR Frontalis suspension surgery using autologous fascia lata is effective for treating unilateral congenital ptosis with poor levator function.
Recent studies on the surgical correction of unilateral congenital ptosis with poor levator function have highlighted the effectiveness of frontalis suspension, particularly using autologous fascia lata as the sling material due to its low complication rate. The left eye is most commonly affected, and direct fixation of the sling material to the tarsal plate has been shown to increase success rates. Despite various surgical designs, the overall approach has not changed significantly, but these advancements have improved both functional and esthetic outcomes while minimizing risks. Unilateral surgery remains the preferred method.
