TLDR New niosomal formulation effectively delivers aminexil through rat skin.
The document reports on a study that developed a new niosomal formulation for the delivery of aminexil, a drug used to treat androgenetic alopecia (AGA) by improving blood supply to hair follicles. The niosomes were made using sorbitan esters (Span™), their ethoxylated derivatives (Tween™), and cholesterol through a lipid film hydration method. The study evaluated the physical stability, size distribution, and release rate of the niosomal aminexil using UV spectrophotometry, transmission electronic microscopy (TEM), Malvern size analyzer, and Franz diffusion cells through rat abdominal skin. The results indicated that the niosomes had good physical stability over six months and showed a slow and biphasic release profile, suggesting that the niosomes could be stable carriers for the topical delivery of aminexil.
