TLDR Hair trace element levels can guide new treatments for aplastic anemia.
The study analyzed the content of 12 trace elements in the hair of 20 aplastic anemia patients compared to normal subjects. It found that patients with yin deficiency had decreased levels of lithium, calcium, strontium, and chromium, while those with yang deficiency showed reduced zinc, magnesium, barium, strontium, calcium, and lithium. Patients with both yin and yang deficiencies exhibited a general decrease in all 12 trace elements. These findings suggested that changes in hair trace element content could guide new treatment approaches for aplastic anemia based on a comprehensive analysis of symptoms and signs.
