Topical Minoxidil: A Survey of Use and Complications

January 1987 in “ Archives of Dermatology
    R. S. Stern
TLDR Most dermatologists prescribed topical minoxidil for hair loss, with few reporting complications.
A mail survey conducted among members of the American Academy of Dermatology revealed that over 70% of responding dermatologists had prescribed topical minoxidil for hair loss. The survey, which had a 61% response rate, showed that prescribing frequency varied, with less than 10% of dermatologists accounting for over half of the prescriptions. Complications were rare, with only 2% of prescribers reporting issues beyond local irritation. However, the possibility of underreporting noncutaneous side effects could not be ruled out.

community Tazarotene shows strong standalone hair regrowth potential, not just a Minoxidil enhancer. Backed by VEGF, HF regeneration, and angiogenesis pathways. Here’s why.

      in Research/Science  134 upvotes 5 months ago
Tazarotene shows potential as a standalone treatment for hair regrowth by stimulating new hair follicle formation and promoting angiogenesis, similar to microneedling effects. It can be used topically without minoxidil, but users should start with a low concentration to avoid irritation.
