TLDR Lotion with piroctone olamine and triclosan improves hair loss in men.
A lotion containing piroctone olamine and triclosan was found to be effective in treating androgenetic alopecia in a study of 20 men who applied the lotion daily for 18 months. The treatment was associated with a decline in the severity of alopecia and a significant improvement in the hair cycle disturbance index after 6 months of therapy. The researchers suggest that the lotion's effectiveness may be due to its ability to reduce the inflammatory infiltrate present in transitional scalp regions, which is linked to the follicular changes found in androgenetic alopecia.
