TLDR A hair growth ointment improved hair length in a family with a genetic hair growth condition.
In a study conducted 27 years ago, three members of an Afghan family with autosomal dominant congenital hypotrichosis, a condition characterized by sparse, light-colored, and thin hair, showed significant improvement after topical applications of 0.1% fluocinolone acetonide acetate ointment. The patients, a 9-year-old boy, his 7-year-old sister, and their 30-year-old mother, had hair that would not grow longer than 1 cm. After 10 months of treatment, the children's hair increased in length from an average of 0.7 cm to 6.2 and 7.1 cm. The mother, who started the treatment later, also showed improvement.
