TLDR Tissue expansion effectively corrects post-burn and traumatic scars with high patient satisfaction and low complications.
This study investigates the effectiveness of tissue expansion in managing post-burn and post-traumatic scars and defects in Yemeni patients, a first of its kind in Yemen. Conducted on 50 patients from January 2020 to January 2024, the study found that 78% of patients were satisfied with the results, and 86% experienced no complications. The majority of injuries were on the scalp, neck, and face, with post-burn complications being the most common cause. The study concludes that tissue expansion is an effective method for correcting these complications, with remote incision for device insertion addressing some complications like wound dehiscence.
