TLDR The minoxidil cream-mask is stable and effective for hair growth when prepared at 60-80ºC.
The study investigated the thermal stability of a cream containing 2% minoxidil, a medication used to stimulate hair growth in cases of alopecia. Using thermogravimetric analysis, the researchers found that minoxidil remained stable from 26 to 240ºC, with only a minor endothermic effect at 191.72ºC and a negligible mass loss of 0.32%. The thermal effects observed in the minoxidil emulsion cream were consistent with those of the base components, indicating no chemical interaction between the active substance and the excipients. The findings concluded that the preparation of the cream-mask at temperatures used in the manufacturing process (60-80ºC) did not lead to the destruction of its components, supporting its efficacy and stability for external use.
