[The effect of nizoral on the function of the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-ovarian system in virilism].

The study examined the effects of nisoral on the hypothalamo-pituitary-ovarian system in 25 patients with hyperandrogenism, with 11 having ovarian and 14 having suprarenal origins. It was found that most patients with oligomenorrhea and anovulation experienced a restoration of their menstrual cycle after 2-3 treatment courses. Additionally, there was a reduction in the progression and rate of pathological hair growth. Nisoral treatment led to a decrease in testosterone levels, an increase in estradiol and progesterone levels, while gonadotropins remained unchanged, and there was a reduction in urinary excretion of 17-ketosteroids.
