The Anti-atopic Lotions Containing Fucoidan Extracted from Ecklonia Cava Impact on Hairless Mice Atopic Dermatitis Skin

In 2011, a study was conducted to examine the effects of anti-atopic lotions containing fucoidan, a compound found in brown seaweed, on hairless mice with atopic dermatitis. The results showed that the lotion healed the damaged skin of the mice, as indicated by their outward appearance and measured skin thickness. The fucoidan in the lotion was found to inhibit the production of IgE, a type of antibody, thereby reducing the secretion of allergic mediators and potentially relieving symptoms of allergic diseases. Furthermore, fucoidan suppressed IgE and IL-4 expression, but promoted IFN-γ expression, creating a balance in Th cells, a type of immune cell. The study also found that the weight of the spleen divided by body weight, and according to T lymphocyte, IgE and IL-4 expression inhibited the ability, and IFN-γ expression were identified.
