    Telogen effluvium was described as a hair cycling abnormality leading to excessive loss of telogen hairs, which could be acute, episodic, or chronic. Acute cases often started suddenly due to triggers like childbirth or high fever, with complete regrowth expected. Chronic telogen effluvium, affecting mainly women aged 30-50, could persist without an identifiable cause in 30% of cases, though spontaneous recovery was common, sometimes taking years. Causes included zinc deficiency, drugs, thyroid disease, and iron deficiency, among others.
