TLDR The best way to make a topical treatment for hair loss is to mix Saw Palmetto extract with 48% ethanol at the end of making the lotion.
The study aimed to determine the optimal method for incorporating Saw Palmetto extract into emulsion bases for the treatment of androgenic alopecia. The solubility of the extract was tested in various liquids, and it was found that complete dissolution was not possible. However, a microscopic analysis revealed that a 48% ethanol solution provided the best dispersion of the extract with particle sizes ranging from 0.005 to 0.05 mm. Biopharmaceutical studies using in vitro agar plates demonstrated that the most effective method for introducing the extract into emulsion bases was as a finely dispersed suspension with 48% ethanol added at the end of the production process. This method resulted in the maximum penetration of biologically active substances when applied to the skin. The study concluded that the developed technology using 48% ethanol as a dispersing agent at the final stage of emulsion preparation was the best approach for formulating topical treatments for androgenic alopecia.
