TLDR Medicinal plants have potential as alternative cancer treatments due to their ability to target and kill cancer cells.
This review highlights the potential of medicinal plants as alternative cancer treatments due to their diverse phytoconstituents with anticancer properties. These plants exhibit various mechanisms to target and kill cancer cells, including suppression of the G0/G1 phase, anti-mitotic and anti-microtubule actions, macrophage activity enhancement, inhibition through signaling cascades, anti-angiogenesis, and cytotoxicity. The study emphasizes the importance of exploring botanical sources for new chemical entities that can be used in cancer therapy, while also discussing the future prospects and limitations of using medicinal plants in this field.
