TLDR Proper guidance on minoxidil use is crucial for effective results and safety.
The study assessed the awareness and usage of topical minoxidil solution among alopecia patients by surveying 202 respondents from a hair clinic. It found that while patients with male and female pattern hair loss and some with alopecia areata found minoxidil relatively effective, those who had not consulted a doctor often misunderstood its usage and side effects, leading to lower satisfaction. Additionally, 10.4% of patients with heart problems used minoxidil without caution. The study concluded that despite being an over-the-counter medication, proper guidance on minoxidil's use and side effects is crucial, highlighting the importance of dermatologists in ensuring its effective application.
