TLDR A rare benign tumor with hair follicle features was found on a man's trunk.
This case report described a 51-year-old man with a superficial angiomyxoma with trichofolliculoma on his trunk. The tumor, measuring 4 cm, was located in the reticular dermis and subcutaneous tissue and consisted of multiple myxomatous nodules with mucinous stroma and stellate cells, along with prominent thin-walled blood vessels. Histological examination revealed abortive hair follicles radiating from a keratin-filled cyst. The stromal cells were positive for vimentin but negative for S-100, smooth muscle a-actin, and desmin, leading to the diagnosis. This case highlighted the rare occurrence of a trichofolliculoma component in superficial angiomyxoma, a benign tumor first described in 1988.
