TLDR Both mesotherapy treatments reduced under-chin fat equally and were safe with mild side effects.
In 2007, a pilot study with 11 participants evaluated the effectiveness of mesotherapy for reducing submental fat using phosphatidylcholine alone versus a combination with organic silicium. Both treatments were found to be equally effective after three sessions, with no significant difference in the rate and degree of fat reduction. Side effects were mild and temporary. Despite its small sample size and lack of a double-blind, placebo-controlled design, the study suggested that mesotherapy could be a safe and cost-effective non-surgical alternative for submental fat reduction. Further research with larger sample sizes and long-term data was recommended.
